Hundreds of supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party (BJP) on Monday clashed with Delhi Police personnel and Reserved Police Force (RPF) near Parliament and at Jantar Mantar. While marching towards Parliament, they breached police barricades and reached near the Sansad Bhawan. The police then resorted to a lathicharge to control the crowd. Earlier, thousands of CJP supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar, just a few kilometer away from Parliament where Monsoon Session has commenced today.
Sachin Sharma, DCP (New Delhi), issued a firm appeal to the public: "I would like to urge everyone to stay within the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar and not move to any other area. I remind everyone that Section 163 of the BNSS is currently in force. We appeal to all to maintain peace and exercise patience."

A motorcyclist died while the pillion rider escaped with minor injuries after a high-speed KTM Duke crashed into a divider in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning. The preliminary investigation suggests that the rider was drunk and lost control of his sports bike.
The accident occurred on the intervening night of June 15 and 16, around 2:15 am when the motorcycle, bearing registration number 'TS08KB6055', was travelling from the TSPA side towards Kali Mandir.
According to the Narsingi Traffic Police of Cyberabad, the rider was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and speeding when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a small advertisement board installed on the road median.
"The rider was travelling at a very high speed. Preliminary inquiry suggests he was in an inebriated condition and could not negotiate the stretch, resulting in the collision," the Traffic Police said.
The impact was so severe that the rider died on the spot. The pillion rider escaped with minor injuries and was shifted to Shadan Hospital for treatment.
The victim's body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination, while a case has been registered for investigation.
The accident was caught on a mobile camera held by the two men who were filming their ride.
The crash did not involve any other vehicle, police clarified.
Officials said the exact speed of the motorcycle would be determined through technical investigation and available electronic evidence. However, the nature of the impact indicated reckless speeding.
The stretch near Kali Mandir and the TSPA junction has witnessed several serious crashes in recent years, with police repeatedly cautioning motorists against overspeeding especially during late-night and early-morning hours.
Police urged motorists to avoid drunk driving and adhere to speed limits, warning that excessive speed significantly reduces reaction time and increases the likelihood of deadly crashes. Source:- NDTV 24x7

PATNA: Educator Faisal Khan, better known as Khan Sir, received a major legal reprieve after a Patna district court stayed his arrest in a case alleging that he directed security guards to open fire during a violent clash outside his coaching institute earlier this month.
The development came a day after the Bihar fire service issued a notice to Khan Sir over alleged fire safety violations at his coaching institute, adding another layer to the controversy surrounding the popular educator.
Khan Sir's lawyer, Arvind Kumar Mahuar, moved the court seeking anticipatory bail after police named him in an FIR related to a violent clash and alleged firing outside the Khan Global Studies coaching centre in Patna's Kadamkuan area on the night of June 2.
The court is expected to hear the anticipatory bail matter while the interim protection from arrest remains in place.
Speaking outside the court, Mahuar said all relevant facts had been presented before the judge and maintained that his client had no direct involvement in the incident.
The case stems from a violent confrontation that police say was linked to a rivalry between Khan Global Studies and another coaching institute. According to the complaint, a group allegedly entered the premises, vandalised property, tore down banners and posters, assaulted security personnel and triggered panic by allegedly opening fire.
Following a complaint filed by Khan Global Studies, police arrested the director of a rival coaching institute along with several associates.
However, the investigation took a dramatic turn after a video surfaced purportedly showing two security guards firing shots into the air during the chaos. The guards were subsequently arrested, and during questioning allegedly claimed they had acted on Khan Sir's instructions. Based on their statements, police registered an FIR against Khan Sir and two others.
The case filed at Kadamkuan police station includes charges under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as well as provisions of the Arms Act. Police have seized the weapons allegedly used in the incident and sent them for forensic examination.
Mahuar dismissed the allegations, arguing that the FIR was aimed at tarnishing Khan Sir's reputation. He contended that the guards may have acted in self-defence amid the attack on the institute and that there was no evidence linking the educator to any firing.
The controversy has also triggered public reactions. Supporters and students of the rival coaching institute director, who remains under arrest, staged candlelight vigils in Patna on Monday, demanding his release and alleging that the case against him was fabricated.

Big relief for 'Khan Sir': Patna court stays arrest in coaching centre firing case

At least 30 Indians were arrested by US Border Patrol agents for living in the country illegally. According to a US Customs and Border Protection release from Monday, the Indians were part of 52 people agents from Arizona's Yuma Sector arrested from May 11-15, and are all set to be deported.
A total of 52 arrests were made, of whom 36 drove semi-trucks. Of these, 30 were Indians, and three did not possess any driver’s license.
“Thirty of the individuals were from India, while the remaining six were from Mexico, El Salvador, and Russia,” the release read. “All individuals were processed in accordance with federal law and will be deported,” it added.
The release did not reveal the identity of the 30 Indians, or others arrested under the operation.
What is Operation Checkmate? The 52 arrests were made under ‘Operation Checkmate’, which according to the US Customs deals with detection and arrest of commercial motor vehicle operators living illegally in the country.
“Operation Checkmate reflects our commitment to safeguarding communities and roads from unlawfully present drivers who pose significant risks to public safety,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector Dustin W Caudle.
“My agents are on patrol every day to ensure we stop these individuals and prevent more deadly crashes from occurring on the road across the United States.”
When Indian trucker killed 3 in crash The arrest and planned deportation of the 30 Indian semi-truck drivers in the US comes months after 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh, another semi-truck driver living illegally in the US, killed three people in California while driving under the influence.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Singh had entered the US illegally through the Mexico border back in 2022. He was driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer when he crashed it into an SUV and several other vehicles back in October 2025.
Before Jashanpreet Singh, another Indian truck driver, 28-year-old Harjinder Singh found himself at the centre of an accident in Florida in August 2025, that killed three people. He allegedly made a wrong U-turn, which made a minivan behind him crash, killing its driver and two passengers.
These cases had sparked demands for stricter rules for non-citizens in the US to obtain commercial drivers licenses.
Months later, US President Donald Trump announced the ‘Dalilah Law' to halt the issuance of commercial driver licenses to “illegal aliens.” As he announced the law, he referenced the case of five-year-old Dalilah from Bakersfield who was injured after a multi-car pileup was caused by Partap Singh—an illegal immigrant from India.

Fuel prices across India held were hiked by Rs 3 per litre across various cities on May 15, as global crude markets remain on edge amid tensions in West Asia and disruptions to key shipping routes. This now ends a period of relative stability that had kept retail fuel prices largely insulated from global volatility,
In Delhi, petrol moved from Rs 94.77 to Rs 97.77 per litre. Diesel rose from Rs 87.67 to Rs 90.67. Across other metros, the increases ranged between Rs 2.83 and Rs 3.29 per litre, with petrol now priced at Rs 108.74 in Kolkata, Rs 106.68 in Mumbai and Rs 103.67 in Chennai.
Diesel, too, climbed sharply. Kolkata now stands at Rs 95.13 per litre, Mumbai at Rs 93.14 and Chennai at Rs 95.25.

The revision did not catch everyone off guard. Even before the official announcement, reports of a possible steep hike had already sent consumers rushing to petrol stations across the country. Long queues formed at outlets, and "No Fuel" boards went up at several pumps as stations struggled to keep up with the sudden surge in demand. Many consumers opted for full-tank refills, fearing prices could climb further, with speculation circulating that rates might rise by anywhere between Rs 5 and Rs 20 per litre from May 15.
What drives petrol and diesel prices in India?
A combination of global, economic, and domestic factors shapes fuel prices at the pump. At the heart of it is the international price of crude oil, the base raw material for both petrol and diesel, which has the single biggest bearing on what consumers ultimately pay.
The rupee-dollar exchange rate is another key variable, given that India relies heavily on imported crude. When the rupee weakens against the dollar, the cost of procuring crude rises, which can feed directly into higher retail fuel prices.
Why do prices differ across different cities?
On top of that, taxes levied by both the central and state governments make up a substantial portion of the final price, which is why petrol and diesel rates differ across states. Transportation costs and prevailing demand-supply conditions also factor into the retail price consumers see at the pump.

NEET UG 2026 Exam Cancelled: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday announced the cancellation of NEET UG 2026, conducted on May 3, after investigations found that several questions similar to those in the actual exam paper had been circulated before the test.
In its official statement, the NTA said the decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India after inputs received in coordination with central agencies and findings shared by law enforcement authorities established that the examination process "could not be allowed to stand." The exam will now be re-conducted on revised dates, which will be notified later.
The agency clarified that candidates will not be required to re-register or pay any additional fee. All applications, candidature details, and exam centre preferences from the May 2026 cycle will remain valid. The re-conduct schedule and admit card updates will be issued through official channels.
The matter has now been formally referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (Central Bureau of Investigation), which will conduct a comprehensive probe. The NTA said it will extend full cooperation and share all relevant records and materials. Until now, the case was being jointly examined by multiple agencies, including the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (Rajasthan Special Operations Group) and other law enforcement units.
First complete cancellation since 2019 takeover This is the first time since NTA took over NEET UG conduct in 2019 that the medical entrance examination has been completely scrapped. In 2024, the exam was partially re-conducted for over 1,563 candidates following discrepancies in marks, triggering scrutiny of the agency's functioning.
The latest development has further intensified questions over exam security and the credibility of the testing system.
Arrests so far and key accused According to officials, Rajasthan SOG has arrested at least 15 people in connection with the alleged paper leak. Those arrested include Manish Yadav and Rakesh Mandwaria, with Mandwaria suspected of links to a consultancy centre in Sikar.
Separately, the Nashik Crime Branch (Nashik Crime Branch) arrested Shubham Khairnar, a BAMS student, as part of its parallel investigation.
All arrested individuals have been handed over to the CBI following the central agency's takeover of the probe.
Timeline of the Alleged Paper Leak The paper was reportedly in circulation about 45 hours before the examination. It reached several students in Sikar, as well as those in Jaipur's outskirts and rural coaching hubs. The leak was allegedly carried out by a gang based in Haryana.
May 2: The matter came to light on May 2 at around 11 pm, when a student from Sikar, studying in Kerala, allegedly sent the paper to his father, who is a hostel owner.
May 3: The father, who runs a hostel in Sikar, filed a complaint with the Udyog Nagar police station and the National Testing Agency (NTA). He stated that a large number of students had received a suspicious "question bank/guess paper," making him a whistleblower.
May 6-7: Online chats and discussions related to the exam and answer key began surfacing. Students and coaching centres started referring to a "question bank" that reportedly had several similarities with the actual NEET paper.
May 7: The NTA said it received an email with a PDF alleging irregularities four days after the exam. According to the agency, the complaint originated from Rajasthan.
May 8: The NTA handed over the investigation to central agencies.
May 10: The Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (Rajasthan Special Operations Group) officially began its probe into the NEET paper leak case. By May 12, 13 people had been arrested from Sikar and nearby areas.
Probe trail as per investigators
Investigators traced the network from Sikar to Jaipur, where two individuals from Jamwaramgarh were allegedly found to have purchased the paper for Rs 15 lakh and supplied it further to Sikar-based contacts. This group is believed to have expanded the distribution network beyond Sikar.
The Jamwaramgarh duo reportedly claimed they sourced the material from Haryana, leading investigators further into the network.
In Haryana, authorities detained a medical student suspected of being part of an organised gang involved in the leak.
The probe was then extended further to Maharashtra, where a person in Nashik was found in possession of a handwritten copy of the paper. He also reportedly identified an accomplice in Pune, who is currently being traced.
Investigators believe these links indicate that the alleged leak network extended across multiple states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, and Maharashtra.
NTA's official position The NTA said the decision to cancel the exam was taken in the interest of students and to preserve the credibility of the national examination system. It acknowledged that the re-conduct would cause inconvenience but said continuing with the existing process would have caused "greater and more lasting damage" to institutional trust.
The agency also reiterated that all further communication, including revised exam dates and admit card schedules, will be issued only through official platforms, urging candidates to rely on verified sources and avoid unverified social media reports. Source:- NDTV 24 x 7

NEET UG 2026 paper leak: The chain of events that forced exam cancellation

Tamil Nadu politics latest news | The Tamil Nadu Congress has decided to ditch its long-time ally Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and support Thalapathy Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in forming the government. The decision was taken at an urgent late-night meeting of the party's Political Affairs Committee, convened on Zoom by AICC in-charge for Tamil Nadu Affairs Girish Chodankar, where senior members backed the move, news agency PTI reported, citing sources.
This came after the grand old party claimed that Vijay sought their support for government formation and that the party leadership had asked the state unit to take a final call, keeping in view the state's sentiments. Top Congress leaders met at party chief Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on Tuesday evening, with Rahul Gandhi and Chodankar among those present, to discuss the post-election situation.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Congress general secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal said, "TVK President Thiru Vijay has requested the Indian National Congress for support to form a Government in Tamil Nadu." He added that the Congress is crystal clear that the mandate in Tamil Nadu is for "a secular government that is committed to protecting the Constitution in letter and spirit. The INC is determined not to have the BJP and its proxies run the Government of Tamil Nadu in any manner."
Vijay's TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, falling short of the halfway mark. The report from New Delhi said he needs the support of 10 MLAs to form a government with a simple majority. Congress won five seats, PMK four, CPI and CPI-M two each, DMK 59 and AIADMK 47. The BJP, DMDK and AMMK won one seat each, while the VCK won two. Congress fought the election in alliance with the DMK, while the BJP was allied with the AIADMK.
Not just this, NDA ally All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is also considering extending support to Vijay. AIADMK MLA-elect Leemarose Martin said that the party's general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami is in talks to support Vijay for a stable government.
Leemarose, wife of Santiago Martin, won from Lalgudi, while her son-in-law, Aadhav Arjuna of TVK, won from Villivakkam. The Chennai report said TVK, launched in 2024, secured 108 seats in its maiden Assembly poll and required the support of an additional 12 members, with talks underway with several parties, including the Congress.
With the Congress state unit now backing Vijay, and parallel claims of AIADMK talks, government formation efforts in Tamil Nadu have moved to the centre of the post-election developments.

Congress backs Vijay's TVK in Tamil Nadu, will AIADMK join course?

Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday took oath as Bihar’s 24th Chief Minister, becoming the first leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party to occupy the top post.
His swearing-in follows his election as leader of the BJP legislature party after the resignation of Nitish Kumar, in what was a decisive transfer of power.
Choudhary’s elevation caps a steady political rise from Deputy Chief Minister earlier this year to the Chief Minister's office, placing him at the centre of a major political realignment in the state with the BJP moving into a leadership role for the first time.
Saffron breakthrough in Bihar’s top job
Born on November 16, 1968, in Lakhanpur village in Munger district, Choudhary comes from a politically active family. His father, Shakuni Choudhary, was a six-time MLA and Member of Parliament, while his mother, Parvati Devi, represented the Tarapur constituency. He completed his early education in his hometown before pursuing higher studies at Madurai Kamaraj University, and began his political journey in 1990. In 1999, he served as Bihar’s Agriculture Minister during the Rabri Devi-led government.
Choudhary has been elected twice as an MLA from Parbatta (2000 and 2010), and also served as chief whip of the opposition in the Assembly. He later held the Urban Development and Housing portfolio from 2014.
His rise within the BJP accelerated after he joined the party, culminating in his appointment as Bihar BJP president in March 2023, succeeding Sanjay Jaiswal. The move was part of the party’s broader strategy to strengthen its outreach among OBC communities, particularly the Kushwaha/Koeri group, where Choudhary is seen as a key face.
In January 2024, he became leader of the BJP legislature party and was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, handling key portfolios including Finance, Health, Urban Development, and Panchayati Raj. His tenure saw a focus on administrative reforms, improvements in policing and traffic management, and efforts to boost transparency and investment through streamlined CSR initiatives.
Known for his combative political style, Choudhary has frequently taken an aggressive stance against rivals. His symbolic decision to wear a turban during the BJP’s split with JD(U)—pledging to remove it only after the party returned to power—reinforced his image as a determined political figure.
Nitish Kumar exits, power equation resets
Choudhary’s swearing-in follows the resignation of Nitish Kumar, bringing to a close yet another phase in the veteran leader’s long and influential political journey in Bihar. His exit not only ended the immediate tenure but also redrew the state’s political equations, paving the way for a clear shift in leadership dynamics. For years, the BJP had operated as a junior partner in Bihar’s सत्ता structure, backing Nitish Kumar-led governments across shifting alliances. Choudhary’s elevation marks a decisive break from that pattern, with the party now assuming direct control of the Chief Minister’s office for the first time.
The transition is a broader recalibration within the state’s political landscape: one where leadership, social outreach strategies, and governance priorities are expected to align more closely with the BJP’s organisational vision.
