Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026, although the company has not officially confirmed the launch date. Industry reports suggest the launch event could take place around September 12, with the devices expected to go on sale later in the month.
According to leaks, Apple may adopt a new launch strategy by introducing only the premium Pro models this September, while the standard iPhone 18 lineup could debut in early 2027. The Pro models are also rumoured to launch alongside Apple's first foldable iPhone, according to the reports.
Refined Design and Display
The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max is likely to retain its 6.9-inch screen. Apple is reportedly upgrading to LTPO+ OLED display technology, offering improved brightness, smoother performance, and better power efficiency.
Leaks also suggest the Dynamic Island could shrink by nearly 35 per cent, with more Face ID components moving beneath the display. The Pro Max is expected to be slightly thicker and heavier to accommodate a larger battery. Expected colour options include Dark Cherry Red, Light Blue, and Dark Grey.
Performance and Camera Upgrades
The upcoming Pro models are tipped to be powered by Apple's A20 chip, reportedly built on TSMC's 2nm process, promising faster performance and improved energy efficiency. The devices are also expected to feature Apple's in-house C2 modem for enhanced cellular connectivity and advanced satellite-based 5G capabilities.
One of the biggest expected upgrades is a variable-aperture primary camera, a first for an iPhone. The system is expected to improve low-light photography, reduce overexposure in bright conditions, and deliver more natural background blur in portrait shots.
Bigger Battery and Expected Pricing
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumoured to house a 5,200mAh battery, offering improved battery life over previous models.
While Apple has not revealed official pricing, reports suggest the iPhone 18 Pro series could see a price increase of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 in India. The Pro Max, which reportedly succeeds the Rs 1,49,999 iPhone 17 Pro Max, is expected to remain positioned as Apple's flagship premium smartphone.
All launch dates, specifications, and pricing remain based on industry leaks, and Apple is expected to reveal the official details at its launch event.

iPhone 18 Pro price: Will Apple's new phone cost Rs 20,000 more? Expected price, colours and more

BSNL has introduced a new satellite phone in India, but this isn't a device aimed at everyday smartphone buyers. Priced at Rs 1,34,166 (inclusive of taxes), the handset is designed for users who often work or travel in places where traditional mobile networks simply don't exist. Instead of relying on cellular towers, the phone connects through satellite networks, allowing voice communication even in some of the country's most remote locations. Here's everything you need to know about BSNL's newly introduced satellite phone, who it is meant for and why it carries such a premium price tag.
<h2>What Is Special About BSNL's Satellite Phone?</h2>
Unlike regular smartphones, the new BSNL handset is an Inmarsat satellite phone built for mission-critical communication. According to BSNL, the device is designed for sectors such as Defence, maritime operations, disaster response, mining, remote industrial sites and adventure travel, where mobile connectivity is often unavailable.
The biggest highlight is satellite connectivity, which allows users to make voice calls even outside the reach of conventional mobile towers. The handset also comes with an SOS emergency support feature, a rugged design suitable for harsh environments, and long battery life for extended use in the field.
Because the phone communicates directly with satellites rather than terrestrial networks, it can continue functioning in isolated regions where standard telecom services fail.
<h2>Who Can Buy It And How?</h2>
The satellite phone isn't expected to be sold through regular smartphone retailers or online marketplaces. As highlighted by TechDekhoji on X, interested buyers are required to contact BSNL directly and explain their intended use, since satellite phones are generally meant for specialised applications rather than everyday consumers.
BSNL has listed the device at Rs 1,34,166, inclusive of all taxes. Customers seeking more information can contact the company or visit their nearest BSNL office for purchase-related details and eligibility requirements.

BSNL launches a phone at Rs 1,34,166: Who needs it and what it can do

Among all smartphone categories, the mid-range segment has arguably suffered the most from this year's memory supply crunch. The under-Rs 20,000 market has seen few meaningful launches, while the sub-Rs 25,000 space continues to rely largely on models introduced last year.&nbsp;
The best phones below Rs 25,000 are seldom complete all-rounders. And, with the sale season kicking in, let us take a look at the devices available in the market under this range.&nbsp;
Poco M8
The phone debuted as a budget offering at Rs 18,999. Buyers can choose from three storage and memory options:&nbsp;
10 Phones To Buy Under 25,000 Amid Rising Handset Prices Due To Memory Chips With the sale season kicking in, let us take a look at the devices available in the market under this range.
The phone debuted as a budget offering at Rs 18,999. Buyers can choose from three storage and memory options:&nbsp;
128GB model with 6GB RAM costs Rs 19,999&nbsp;
128GB version with 8GB RAM is priced at Rs 21,999&nbsp;
256GB model paired with 8GB RAM for Rs 23,999&nbsp;
It sports a 6.77-inch curved AMOLED screen with sufficient brightness for outdoor visibility. Although the handset relies on a polycarbonate construction, it is backed by an IP66 rating for added protection against dust and water ingress.
Realme P4x 5G
The Realme P4x 5G made its debut at Rs 15,499. However, rising component costs have pushed it into a higher price bracket.&nbsp;
You can choose between 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB variants, which cost Rs 22,999 and Rs 24,999, respectively.
The phone powers MediaTek Dimensity 7400-Ultra processor, a chip capable of handling demanding games with ease. Backing it up is an extensive vapour chamber cooling solution that helps prevent thermal throttling during prolonged gaming. While the camera system is serviceable rather than exceptional, the 7,000mAh battery is built to power through even the longest gaming sessions.
iQOO Z11x
At the heart of the iQOO Z11x 5G is MediaTek's 4nm Dimensity 7400 Turbo processor. The octa-core chipset combines four high-performance cores running at up to 2.6GHz with four power-efficient cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The phone is available with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and as much as 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, while a side-mounted fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication.
6GB+128GB version costs Rs 22,999&nbsp;
8GB+128GB variant is available at Rs 24,999.
Moto G67 Power
The Moto G67 Power is one of the few models that still manages to deliver a true mid-range experience.&nbsp;
Its design helps it stand apart from the competition, with multiple finish options, including a faux leather rear panel, that lend the handset a more upmarket feel than most plastic-bodied rivals. Although it debuted at Rs 15,999, the entry-level variant now carries a price tag of Rs 22,999.
Moto G96
Another Motorola smartphone worth considering is the Moto G96. The 8GB + 128GB variant is available for Rs 18,999, while the 8GB + 256GB version costs Rs 19,999.&nbsp;
That competitive pricing, however, comes with a notable compromise: the company promises only a single year of software updates.
Vivo T4
The Vivo T4 keeps things simple with a minimalist design. However, it stands out thanks to its 120Hz quad-curved AMOLED screen, which adds a touch of sophistication. The styling clearly takes cues from Vivo's flagship X200 lineup, and the handset remains remarkably thin considering it packs a massive 7,300mAh battery. The polycarbonate construction is complemented by an IP65 certification for dust and water resistance.
The base variant (8GB+128GB) is retailing for Rs 24,999 on the official website.
Redmi 15 5G
Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi 15 5G with a spacious 6.9-inch Full HD+ (1,080 &times; 2,340 pixels) screen capable of refreshing at up to 144Hz. Under the bonnet sits Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, backed by a generous 7,000mAh battery designed for extended usage.
The price range for the device currently stands at Rs 20,499 to Rs 24,499, depending on the variant.
Samsung Galaxy A17 5G
The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is a budget-friendly smartphone featuring a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED 90Hz display, an Exynos 1330 chipset, and a 5000mAh battery. It boasts a 50MP OIS main camera, an IP54 splash-proof rating, and industry-leading software support, promising 6 years of OS upgrades.
6GB + 128GB variant costs Rs 22,499
8GB + 128 GB version is priced at Rs 24,499.
Realme NARZO 80 Pro 5G
The Realme Narzo 80 Pro 5G ships with Realme UI 6.0, based on Android 15. It features a 6.77-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 &times; 2,392 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a claimed peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Under the hood, the handset is powered by MediaTek's 4nm Dimensity 7400 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Its base variant is retailing for Rs 23,999 on the official website.&nbsp;
iQOO Z10R 5G
The iQOO Z10R 5G is a stylish, mid-range smartphone known for its slim quad-curved AMOLED display and 4K selfie camera capabilities. Key specifications include the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 4nm processor, a 50MP Sony IMX882 OIS primary camera, and a 5700 mAh battery.
The 8GB + 128GB variant costs Rs 22,999, while the 8GB + 256GB version is priced at Rs 24,999.

10 Phones To Buy Under 25,000 Amid Rising Handset Prices Due To Memory Chips

The best phones below Rs 25,000 are seldom complete all-rounders. Instead, manufacturers tend to prioritise a handful of strengths: whether that's performance, battery life or cameras, while trimming features in other areas to keep costs in check.

India, May 8 -- Apple is reportedly preparing one of its biggest iPhone launches in years, with leaks suggesting the upcoming iPhone 18 series could introduce major design and hardware upgrades. Apart from the expected iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, reports also hint at Apple's first foldable iPhone, which may launch under the name iPhone Ultra.
While the company has not officially announced the event date, industry reports and Apple's previous launch patterns strongly suggest a September unveiling. Analysts believe the launch could become one of Apple's most ambitious hardware events in recent years.
iPhone 18 Pro Launch Date Update (Expected)
According to multiple reports, Apple is likely to hold its annual iPhone launch event during the first half of September 2026. Historically, the company prefers Tuesdays or Wednesdays for its major keynote presentations.
Current predictions point toward September 9 as the most likely date, although September 15 or 16 also remain possible options. Reports suggest Apple has already ruled out September 8 because the company usually avoids holding events immediately after the Labour Day holiday in the United States.
Apple traditionally invites global media and creators to Cupertino ahead of launch events, which also affects scheduling decisions.
iPhone 18 Pro Price (Expected)
Apple has not officially confirmed the pricing for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup yet. However, several leaks and analyst reports suggest the company may maintain premium flagship pricing despite rising production costs.
Industry reports indicate the iPhone 18 Pro could start at around $1,099 globally, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may begin at approximately $1,199. In India, the expected starting price for the iPhone 18 Pro is likely to fall between Rs 1,30,000 and Rs 1,45,000, depending on storage variants and import costs.
Leaks also suggest Apple may launch multiple storage options, including 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants for the Pro models.
iPhone 18 Pro: What Could Launch Alongside? (Expected)
The iPhone 18 series is expected to include the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max as Apple's premium flagship smartphones for 2026.
However, the biggest surprise could be Apple's first foldable iPhone. Reports suggest the device may launch as the iPhone Ultra, although some leaks still refer to it as the iPhone Fold. If launched, the foldable model would mark Apple's entry into a segment currently dominated by brands like Samsung and Google.
Industry insiders also expect Apple to showcase new software features tied to iOS 20 alongside upgraded AI-powered capabilities across the lineup.
iPhone 18 Pro Pre-Orders: When Will the Sales Begin? (Expected)
If Apple hosts its keynote on September 9, pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could begin on Friday, September 11. Following Apple's traditional launch cycle, the phones may officially go on sale on September 18.
Reports indicate software updates linked to the new iPhones could start rolling out around September 16 or 17.
The foldable iPhone Ultra may arrive slightly later than the standard Pro models due to manufacturing complexities associated with foldable display technology. Some reports suggest Apple could stagger the release to maintain media attention over a longer period.
iPhone 18 Pro Features &amp; Upgrades (Expected)
Leaks surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro series suggest Apple may introduce several major hardware and design improvements this year.
Rumoured upgrades include a smaller Dynamic Island, improved AI integration, upgraded camera sensors, faster chipsets, and improved battery efficiency. Reports also indicate Apple could continue refining under-display technologies for a cleaner front design.
The iPhone Ultra foldable model is expected to feature a book-style folding design with premium build materials and advanced multitasking support aimed at productivity-focused users.
Why iPhone 18 Pro Could Be Apple's Biggest Launch?
The 2026 iPhone launch cycle is attracting massive attention because Apple may finally enter the foldable smartphone category after years of speculation.
At the same time, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to push further into AI-powered experiences, performance upgrades, and premium design refinements. Analysts believe Apple could use this launch to strengthen its position against increasing competition from Samsung, Google, and Chinese smartphone brands.
With both traditional flagship upgrades and a possible foldable debut, this year's iPhone event may become one of Apple's most closely watched launches in recent history.

iPhone 18 Pro launch date update: Check expected price, pre-orders, sales, specifications, features & all you need to know

India is hosting an artificial intelligence summit this week, bringing together heads of state and tech executives with hot-button issues on the agenda, including job disruption and child safety.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the five-day AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, which aims to declare a &ldquo;shared roadmap for global AI governance and collaboration&rdquo;.
&ldquo;This occasion is further proof that our country is progressing rapidly in the field of science and technology,&rdquo; and it &ldquo;shows the capability of our country&rsquo;s youth&rdquo;, he said in an X post on Monday.
Touted as the biggest edition yet, the Indian government is expecting 250,000 visitors from across the sector, including 20 national leaders and 45 ministerial-level delegations.
But the summit faced a wave of online criticism on its opening day as attendees reported long queues, overcrowding and organisational lapses at the venue.
Several delegates told Reuters news agency that unclear instructions had left many scrambling to reclaim possessions after the exhibition building was suddenly cleared ahead of security sweeps for high-level arrivals.
Attendees said poor signage and limited seating added to confusion at the summit, while some speakers due on Tuesday panels were still awaiting confirmation of sessions and agendas, Reuters reported.
&ldquo;Gates are closed so could not access my own booth at the AI Summit. If &zwnj;you&rsquo;re also stuck outside and wanted to visit the Bola team, dm me,&rdquo; Maitreya Wagh, co-founder of AI voice startup Bolna, posted on X.
&nbsp;&ldquo;We may set up &zwnj;a &zwnj;mini-booth at some Connaught Place cafe,&rdquo; he added, referring to the business district near the summit venue.
&lsquo;Shaping humanity&rsquo;
The summit comes at a pivotal moment as AI rapidly transforms economies, reshapes labour markets and raises questions around regulations, security and ethics.
From generative AI tools that can produce text and images to advanced systems used in defence, healthcare and climate modelling, AI has become a central focus for governments and corporations across the world.
The summit, previously held in France, the United Kingdom and South Korea, has evolved far beyond its modest beginnings as a meeting tightly focused on the safety of cutting-edge AI systems into an all-purpose jamboree trade fair in which safety is just one aspect.
India &ndash; the world&rsquo;s most populous nation and one of the fastest-growing digital markets &ndash; sees the summit as an opportunity to project itself as a bridge between advanced economies and the Global South.
Officials said the country&rsquo;s experience in building large-scale digital public infrastructure, including digital identity and payment platforms, offers a model for deploying AI at scale while keeping costs low.
&ldquo;The goal is clear: AI should be used for shaping humanity, inclusive growth and a sustainable future,&rdquo; India&rsquo;s Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
French President Emmanuel Macron and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva are among the world leaders expected to attend the summit.
Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft President Brad Smith and AMI Labs Executive Chairman Yann LeCun are also expected to attend.
New Delhi declaration
The summit has the loose themes of &ldquo;people, progress, planet&rdquo; &ndash; dubbed the &ldquo;three sutras&rdquo;.
Like previous editions, the India AI Impact Summit is not expected to result in a joint binding political agreement. It is more likely that the event could end with a nonbinding pledge or declaration on goals for AI development.
Last year&rsquo;s edition, the Paris AI Action Summit, was dominated by United States Vice President JD Vance&rsquo;s speech in which he rebuked European efforts to curb AI&rsquo;s risks by warning global leaders and tech industry executives against &ldquo;excessive regulation&rdquo; that could hobble the rapidly growing AI industry.
AI summits have evolved since the first meeting in November 2023, barely a year after the launch of ChatGPT, which stoked excitement and fear about the capabilities of generative artificial intelligence.

<h1 class="title">Meta fires employees for leaks amid Mark Zuckerberg's Trump pivot</h1>
<h2 class="sub-title">Meta on Thursday said it had laid off 20 workers for leaking information to the media, as the social media giant faces pressure over the recent political shift towards US President Donald Trump</h2>
Meta on Thursday said it had laid off 20 workers for leaking information to the media, as the social media giant faces pressure&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/technology/lgbtq-creators-brace-for-metas-pro-trump-changes/article69104119.ece" target="_self">over the recent political shift of its boss Mark Zuckerberg towards US President Donald Trump.</a>
We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminders, that it is against our policies to leak internal information, no matter the intent," a Meta spokesperson said, confirming a story first reported in The Verge.
<div id="artmeterpv" class=""></div>
"We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more," the company added.
We take this seriously, and will continue to take action when we identify leaks
The round of firings came following a recent series of reports based on Zuckerberg's meetings with employees.
In one meeting, first reported by&nbsp;The Verge, Zuckerberg told employees he would no longer be forthcoming with information because "we try to be really open and then everything I say leaks. It sucks.
He also warned them to "buckle up" for the coming year and said that Meta would be a productive partner with the White House.
Tech leaders have broadly fallen in line around Trump since he won the election in November, with Zuckerberg making a particular turn towards the Republican since his return to office.
Zuckerberg has multiplied his advances towards Trump, who last summer threatened the tech tycoon with life imprisonment after Meta excluded the president from Facebook in January 2021 for encouraging the assault on the Capitol.
The CEO and founder has dined with the Republican on several occasions, donated to the president's inauguration fund, eased up on content moderation, and ended Facebook's US fact-checking program in an effort to draw closer to the new Republican leadership in Washington.
His longtime political affairs boss was also replaced by a prominent Republican, and he named Trump ally Dana White to his board after the US election.
The measures align with the conservative views of the president and his allies, as well as masculinist entertainers and personalities like Elon Musk.
On the Joe Rogan podcast, Zuckerberg complained that "a lot of the corporate world is pretty culturally neutered" and that embracing masculine energy "is good.
