Days after the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) ended its protest over the alleged NEET paper leak, Delhi Police has issued notices to several X (formerly Twitter) account holders, seeking information about posts shared during the demonstrations.
According to sources, the notices have been sent to multiple individuals as well as some news portals that were active on social media during the protests.
The notices relate to posts in which some users allegedly used abusive language against the Prime Minister and members of the security forces. Police have asked the recipients to provide details about the accounts and the content under investigation.
Among those who received notices is a woman whose posts allegedly contained abusive remarks directed at the Prime Minister.
The action comes after Delhi Police reviewed social media content uploaded during and after the protests. Officials examined posts, videos and comments across various platforms to identify content that may have violated the law or affected public order.
Earlier, Delhi Police had said it identified more than 400 social media accounts allegedly linked to Pakistan that were spreading fake narratives, rumours and deepfake videos related to the student protests.
Two days ago, the police also directed several social media platforms to remove posts and videos containing offensive and abusive remarks against the Prime Minister. The content was allegedly uploaded during the protests at Jantar Mantar and the violence that took place during the July 20 "Sansad Chalo" march.
According to Delhi Police, multiple posts containing abusive language against the Prime Minister appeared on different social media platforms during the protests and the unrest that followed in the national capital.
The investigation into the social media posts is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings, officials said.
