A woman was allegedly raped by a sleeper bus driver and conductor inside the vehicle in Delhi, police sources said on Thursday. The incident reportedly took place on May 12, following which both accused were arrested.
According to police, the woman filed a complaint after the incident, based on which a case was registered, and an investigation was launched. The bus involved in the case has also been seized as part of the probe.
The survivor, a married woman and a mother of three children, said she was forcibly pulled inside by the driver and the conductor, after which she was sexually assaulted and later thrown out.
Her statement was recorded by police, and an FIR was registered after her medical examination was conducted. The arrests were made soon after procedural formalities were completed.
Investigators said the alleged assault took place inside the sleeper bus while the woman was travelling. Police have not yet disclosed the route of the vehicle or the exact circumstances under which the incident occurred.
The two accused — the bus driver and the conductor — are currently in custody. Police are questioning them and examining evidence collected from the bus. Forensic and medical reports are also expected to form part of the investigation.
Officials said they are verifying the sequence of events and gathering further details, including whether the bus was in operation at the time and if any other passengers were present during the alleged crime.
The case is being investigated by Delhi Police, and additional details are awaited as the inquiry progresses. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the survivor or the accused.
